We rv camped at Miller's Landing and took a Best of Alaska 12 hour tour. The campsite, right on the bay, was small with electric hookups and an awesome view. Micah, our captian and Emily, our guide/deckhand were fantastic! We saw 4 tidewater glaciers, a mountian goat, mother and baby humpback whales, dolphins, seals, sea lions, sea otters, puffins and many more sea birds. We fished our limit of coho salmon and rockfish. We can't say enough great things about the friendliness and knowledge Micah and Emily gave us. Thank you!
This campground is in an excellent location in being right on the beach with the opportunity to see seals and otters. However, we were pretty disappointed in this campground. First, the campsites are hard to find and the overall layout is confusing. There appeared to be a lot of junk (old equipment and small delipidated outbuildings) laying around which added to the confusion. The pictures make the campsites appear further apart when in reality, you are right on top of your neighbor. The showers were cold, not clean (we discovered many locals pay for showers there too), and expensive. We had other campers and locals walking through the campsite at all hours of the day even though our campsite was 5 feet from the main road. We left our camping chairs out and two teenagers walked by around 2 am and knocked them over, laughing and talking loudly to one another as they stood just steps away from the camper. Another woman drug her child by his arm right next to our camper rubbing some part of his body against the camper as she went, screaming at him telling him she was going to beat him. This campground does not sleep and is noisy at all times of day. Our neighbor experienced trouble with their electric and the office staff was too busy to help him, so we can another electrical cord from our site to his. The office is nice and we enjoyed that they had free coffee to guests. This is not the campground for visitors to Alaska who are struggling with sleep due to the increased daylight.
People screaming until 3 am both nights camping at the annex. Would not recommend if you want to sleep. Camp sites are close together our neighbors tent was about 10 feet from ours. Overall would never stay there again.
Miller’s Landing in Seward, Alaska, offers a quintessential Alaskan experience where rustic charm meets natural beauty. Nestled along Resurrection Bay, this family-run haven provides diverse accommodations, including beachfront RV sites, wooded tent spots, and cozy cabins like the Orca Beach Cabin, perfect for those seeking a tranquil retreat . The location is a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts. Guests frequently spot sea otters, bald eagles, and even whales right from the shore. The campground also serves as a launch point for various adventures, including guided kayak tours to Aialik Glacier, fishing charters, and water taxi services . While the amenities are basic, with pay-per-use showers and limited hookups, the communal atmosphere shines through. Campers often gather for weekend potlucks, sharing stories and enjoying the free coffee available at the main office . Accessing Miller’s Landing involves a 2.5-mile drive on Lowell Point Road, which can be narrow and pothole-ridden, especially after rain. However, many find that the scenic journey, flanked by mountains and the bay, adds to the adventure . In summary, Miller’s Landing is ideal for travelers seeking an authentic Alaskan experience, rich in natural beauty and community spirit. Its rustic charm and prime location make it a memorable destination for those looking to immerse themselves in the Alaskan wilderness.
My family and I visited on April 21, 2024. We went inside for lunch and the food and the staff was amazing. We ended up staying in our RV at one of their beach side spots and the view was magnificent. Due to the time of year a lot of potable water is hard to find and they let us fill up our tank. Can’t wait to come back in the warmer season to do some fishing and whale watching.
