A nice camp ground with permanents up front and RV park in the back by the lake. Lots to do, fishing, swimming and Silver Springs in just a few miles away Near Ocala. Quite and peaceful place to relax and enjoy nature.
The campground and many of the trailers are old and run down. Part of a mobile home park that also feels kinda "yuk". The sites are super tight fits. The first one we tried didn't work at all, so we went to another that barely fit us. They're also not level and have big tree roots and holes. Lastly, apparently they "recently" changed ownership/management to CampSpot and their pricing went through the roof. The prices used to be good for 4 people with each additional person being $5/day. Now the price is only for 2 people and $10/day for extra people. As if my 7, 5, and 2 year olds are going to use $30 of extra utilities every day... So it cost us $75 more than it should have for a 3 night stay. But even that would be tolerable if it were disclosed up front, but it's not. They still have their old pricing put up every where and then tell you it's not valid. Ridiculous.
We used to camp here often when it was privately owned and it was great. We are not welcome under the new owners because we have a dog over 50 pounds, I emailed them to confirm that the 50 pound rule included camping or if it was just for the mobile home park but they could not be bothered to return my email
This place has always had a five-star reputation. Recently, a new management crew took over and there was some turbulence. Any negative reviews are simply a reflection of this worble. Waldena is still the best lil lake front community.
Lake Waldena Resort was one of our fav camping spots on our trip to Florida. Close to Silver Springs State Park & yet so relaxing, clean & beautiful🏝The RV spots are a little close together but the lake is an added bonus! People are friendly & accommodating. We had a wonderful time & will be back again next spring!
