About

There is a RV dump station at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. It is located south of Goldsboro on US 13. To get there, you need to turn east on State Route 581 to Westbrook. Then, turn left to Slocume and finally turn right to reach the back gate. This is the only gate that an RV can navigate. At the dump station, you can find both potable and rinse water, as well as non-potable water.

It’s a nice area and would be great if it was managed better. They charge you $20 a night to camp, but the “sites” are an open field. No markings, no picnic tables, no fire pits… just a field. It makes no sense to charge that much for nothing. If you don’t want people to tent camp just say so.

Love this place! Third time this year. Very nice people. Campground beautiful. Staying in pull thru full hookup for $25/night. Can't beat it!

Arrived before noon to self check-in system using a map with our site number. The grass and weeds were over 2 feet tall. No campfires allowed. For the low cost, it was sufficient. Nice paved bike trails throughout the base.

My wife and I stayed at the Seymour Johnson AFB Famcamp during the 4th of July weekend. We found the camp to be well maintained. We stayed on site 14 which had enough room for our 30’ travel trailer and our Ram 1500 tow vehicle. All the hookups worked as advertised and without issue. The sites are well shaded which we enjoyed but if you have to rely on solar or satellite, this camp may not work for you. Overall, our experience was a positive one and we are likely to visit again as we have family in the area.

The campground is ok for the price. Almost all the long term sites are filled, but they are expanding (creating 8 or so new sites). It's nice having a laundry room onsite and there are 2 bathrooms in the same building. I gave a 3 because most of the long term sites are not level and when you stay here, you are basically on your own. They cut the grass about once per month, so bring your own mower, etc. The other campers are very friendly and there are lots of dog owners. I do like that the sites are full hookup and we have a dumpster and dog waste bins. So you don't have to haul waste. There is also a dump station here too. The base offers alot to do for kids in the summer.
