My first time in North Dakota! Beautiful area, and nice park. You can see some of the "upgrade" improvements coming to fruition. Well cared for campground and nice new showers!!
This is a really beautiful state park, just outside of Medora and close to the south entrance to Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The sites are nicely spaced out, so you have privacy, peace and quiet. Our site was nice and level, as were the others we observed. There are 30A and 50A electrical hookups, but no water or septic. There are potable water spigots located throughout the campground, so fill-up your fresh water tank before you park. There is also a dump station. Sites all have a picnic table & fire pit and gorgeous views of the surrounding hills. This campground also has corrals for equestrian campers, as well as tent sites. There are clean restrooms with showers at no charge to registered campers. There are also hiking and riding trails nearby. We really enjoyed our stay. It is a great campground for adults - not much to entertain kiddos as far as playgrounds and such. But there is much to do nearby, including the Cowboy Museum and a musical show in Medora and lots to see in the N.P. Heading east after leaving Medora, be on the lookout for the Enchanted Highway near Dickson, where there are over a half dozen huge sculptures.
Access to biking and hiking trails, bird-watching, cozy camping spots, RV and horse camping spots, great views of the Badlands. We stayed in the tent section of the State Park and met other friendly campers. The sites are wooded with shade—more shade in some than others. We enjoyed the sunrise and sunset views of the Badlands rock face. There was cell reception and free Wifi near the checkin area. Staff who helped us were very friendly. It got hot in the afternoons, so was nice to be able to hang out in the shade and take a shower. We also had easy access to drinking and washing water. There were bathrooms a short walk from our campsite. We would love to stay here again to hike at the park and within Theordore Roosevelt Nat’l Park.
Very spacious sites. Stayed in site 10 with electric. Was level and had a couple of trees to sit under in our chairs to avoid the hot sun. Beautiful views of the badlands mountains. Showers and vault toilets were clean. Water spigot to fill fresh tank is just before dump station. Do that before going to your site. We would come here again.
Incredible RV campground. Electric hookups only. But the setting is stunning. Huge bluffs on one side, the Little Missouri river on the other. The Maah Daah Hey mountain bike/horse riding trail goes through the campsite and it offers incredible vistas. We don't have horses, but they let us stay in the Equine camp (I called in- the lady that works there is very nice and helpful). Only 7 minutes drive from the entrance to Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
