My family (we have a 7 year old), my sister's family (6 and 4 year olds) and my parents (70s) stayed here this past Thanksgiving weekend. Great resort campground, if I had an extra 30k, I'd totally buy a membership. I do wish they had site specific booking, and I know that's a bone of contention for many campers and definitely nothing new for them to hear (but here I am repeating it lol). I don't understand why they won't implement it but I can only assume it has something to do with ensuring members are always able to get a site if they want one, which is fair. The most stressful part is not being able to choose sites next to who you're travelling with, which was not an issue this weekend as I do think the weather scared most people away, but I can see how that would be a downer on a busier weekend. That said, the BMX track was great fun, the pool was lovely and clean, volleyball courts and basketball courts and the playground were great, hot tubs were great, and the sites are nice and spacious, some more then others, but I don't really think there is any site in the whole campground that a person would be unhappy in. A word of caution - there is next to no cell phone service at the resort and although there is guest Wifi it was either not available or had such terrible service it was almost pointless, so prepare yourself to be disconnected from the outside world (there is a reason members have satellite dishes and starlink all around the campground). I read a few reviews of folks complaining about unpleasant service, I did not experience this, everyone I encountered that works for Wilderness Village was lovely. I think a few things could be more convenient (aside from site specific reservations) like booking a time for honey run service, the process to pick a site and then take a photo of it once you've picked and then go back to the front desk to report the site is a bit inconvenient) and maybe a wee bit more flexibility with some of the rules, but I am sure they are that way because people have taken advantage in the past, so with that said, I think it's a really well run place. The only real issue we had (aside from snowmaggedon) was with the folks staying across from us who refused to keep their four dogs on a leash. We had three smaller children with us and their dogs ran out at us three seperate times during the weekend as we were walking between our sites, it got to the point where my mom would not even walk from my site to hers using the road, she went behind the campers as she was afraid. Resort patrol was awesome and so apologetic and definitely kept checking but these people were rude and refused to listen, they didn't even leave on time at 11 so I think they were just difficult guests. So all in all, very positive experience, would love to visit again in the summer when all the ammenities are available! Great spot.

We have heard of this Campground via a coworker and a cousin. This campground is supposedly owned by shareholding members, not quite sure how that works out. My coworker is looking at selling her membership and currently looking for prospects. My family is somewhat interested and my cousin also wants to try camping there so my cousin booked 2 sites and off we went on Sept 19 to 21. On our way, the signage advertises it as a 5 star RV resort which really hyped up our expectations and only to be shattered by the 30 minute check in process at 4pm, so it was about 4:30 pm by the time we were on our way to our site. Once we were on the site, we realized the sites have no sewer hook up so is not true full service. This is not very straightforward in their site. The site we chose is nice and big but there was a lot of garbage, beer cans, empty water bottles and candy wrappers by the fire pit. So much with being a 5 start. However, its no big deal for us as we are seasoned campers and these are small issues we can shrug our shoulders to. So was not a deal breaker. We enjoyed the pool and fellow campers and had a great time so my husband and I are talking about going for it (membership) but then check out came, at 1105, just as we were pulling out of the site, a resort patrol stormed in and rudely told us that we have to be out as checkout is at 1100 otherwise it will be put in on our record as late check out. Now this is the absolute deal breaker for us. We dont mind the check in at 4:30pm and check out at 1100am. What we took seriously is the attitude of this staff. I dont think we deserved that treatment for being late for just 5 minutes. Im not sure if she is rude to everyone or just because we were Asians, she thinks she can easily treat us that way and get away with it. I hope the shareholding members and the board of directors will be made aware of this staff's attitude as this has really dampened our supposedly ok experience. We will not be coming back and will be taking our business elsewhere.

We have been taking a family trip here once a year for the last 6 years. It is a great spot for the kids with the amenities (pool/bmx park/playground) which is what has kept us coming back. However this year was very disappointing which starts with their warm welcome at check in which was 4 o'clock, we showed up at 3:55 and were told to go park back by the mini golf and wait until 4. We then arrived to the window at 3:59 and the lady literally held the key until 4 before she gave it to us. The cabins for the price they charge are underwhelming, you don't even get a full set of plates and cutlery for a family of 4 and the firepit hadn't even been cleaned out from the previous people. The members were talking down about us "other" campers while we were trying to enjoy the pool & watched a member complain to the patrol that he was getting splashed because a couple teenagers were having a great time playing in the pool. Won't be back which is unfortunate for the kids.

We stayed for 2 nights Fri Sept 5 - Sun Sept 7 at a glamping site with king bed. Two adults and 3 kids and had planned to have a tent on site for the kids but were told the glamping sites didn't really accommodate additional tents. We were advised to just bring an additional air mattress for the glamping tent which we did. From what we saw, depending on the glamping site, you could fit an additional tent but we were glad to have everyone in one space with light and heat given how chilly it got overnight. Check in was straightforward but we forgot our key so staff brought it out to us. They were also quick to respond when we said our heater wasn't working the first night which was really appreciated. Temperature in glamping tent with the heater made a big difference. Glamping tent is pretty spacious and we were able to fit everyone in there. There is electricity, a fan, a heater and lighting along with a chest to store things and foldable tables. Kids were quite excited to learn they still had access to guest wifi for tablets and we were located right beside the bathrooms which made it very convenient with kids (Blueberry site #4). Other amenities were really nice like the two pools and hot tubs and very clean bathrooms/showers. Water pressure was good and nice warm showers. Kids also enjoyed the playground. We were just a little disappointed organized kid activities had ended in August since I was hoping they'd make friends that way. We had initially tried to book with a group of friends but the booking restrictions and availability for cabins wasn't there. Friends weren't willing to pay $160 a night for glamping tents and chafed at cabins being limited to one family unit. They would've preferred to split the cost between 2 families for cabins that accommodated 8 people (4 adults + 4 kids or 3 adults + 5 kids, etc.). Since the limit per cabin was 2 adults/guardians + x dependents, you wouldnt be able to plan for grandparents to come along either. Because of that inflexibility, I would rate a little lower. Camping with friends and family is always funner and the kids did say they wish they could come back with friends. A search for tenting sites for our dates had showed no availability so we were surprised there were many empty sites around us on arrival. Overall the experience was really enjoyable and I didn't mind splurging a bit. If you looked at it as a cost for "camping" it would seem high, but I found it more akin to a hotel experience with the glamping and facilities. I didn't mind paying hotel prices for the best of both worlds. My partner really liked the unlimited firewood and next year we hope to make it out during their high season for the full experience. We didn't get to try the restaurant, mini golf, courts, arcade, or biking but had a nice time on our site and at the playground and pool. Ice cream was $3 for a kiddie cone which was very reasonable and delicious. Things I wish we had known before / would do differently next time / wish we had: 1) Our unicorn floaty was considered too big for the pools so we'd bring pool noodles instead next time 2) Wish our glamping porch had light bc it got hard to see when cooking there after dark. Would bring extra lamps next time. 3) A portable campfire grill to cook food over the campfire to save on propane 4) Book in July or August so kids can participate in organized activities 5) Bring an over the door organizer to stay organized 6) There were many grocery stores, restaurants, etc. in nearby town of Rocky Mountain House 15 min away. We regretted filling our gas tank for 1.39 in Calgary when it was 1.22 there. Wouldn't stress about forgetting any items bc easy and close to get into town to purchase. Another plus was it being relatively close to Calgary - just over 2 hours away. 7) Two nights felt a bit rushed and too short of a stay so we would prefer 3 nights minimum. Overall the kids loved it and want to go back right away which makes it worth it for us.

On September 6 I purchased 3 nights stay outside of prime time camping for September 12-15. Seeing how it's less than 14 days before our stay, you must pay the full amount so i did. The next day I received a schedule change at work and tried to cancel one day or even receive a credit for one night but no compromise whatsoever, I was told pretty much "Too Bad". I was also told that it would cost more to cancel a day than it would to keep it. According to the RV Campsite Cancellation Policy : "Reservations cancelled more than 14 days prior to the arrival date are refunded the full deposit LESS the $25.00 admin fee. Reservations less than 14 days prior to the arrival date , UP to 3 nights MAY (MAY) be forfeited and any remaining fees refunded to your credit card; administration fees MAY (MAY) apply." This statement with terms like "MAY" should leave a little room for compromise or even a fee that doesn't cost more than a $92 night stay. I'm sure this is a beautiful place with nice amenities but the poor business conducting practices doesn't give me much desire to stay here. There are many other camping places that I may stay. I'm just very disappointed that it's so cut and dry, and a little scam-like to take my $321.00 for 3 nights with not even a partial credit option, especially after September, or that it's setup to cost more to cancel a day than it does to stay there, more than $92 in fees to cancel a day? I will be coming for my 2 nights either way because I won't stand for you to take my $321.00 and book that void right on top of it. No thanks.
