Parked at beehive point and had to carry gear and kayaks down to water was quite steep about 200 meters from car park then paddled 4.7ks after looking at other 2 camp sites nearby all where busy. Camped the night, plenty of room to pull kayaks up and room for tents right near water. Was surprised with the amount of people camping. Had a wombat snuffling around tent most the night. Wind made the paddle back a bit challenging. Total fire ban, no reception and road closer at tallowa dam also a narrow road to beehive point
Closed. People need to know and there needs to be more signs
This is a nice place for camping. 2 areas with 50m apart: one at the waterfront with amazing view only a bit windy, and the second up the trail with more cover and space. However, this is water access only!!! Fire trail is permanently closed due to it being service road, with sturdy gate and a lock. We couldn't reach it by car and had to look for alternative spot. Also lots of annoying flies this season.
Arriving by Kayak as the afternoon rolled in we stopped to pitch our tent. This is a great place to visit and the area by the River is on a slight slope. Wander up the path to the campsite where there's plenty of Wide open flat space to pitch your tent. There's a couple of bush pit toilets here and well worth the visit. The fire trail is closed due to bushfires so it's a 6km walk down from the gate to the site.
Bring some firewood as it gets nippy . Lots of space and hot showers and toilets in the Main camp ground
