Last summer we have a very nice stay during our holiday. The ride to the rodeo was a very fun thing to do. The rv sites had a nice terrace so we had a superb experience overall.
I booked on the KOA APP like I’ve done many times before. Upon check in and driving to our designated site, our travel trailer was too long for the site ( on the APP I stated how long our camper was) anyway the guy in the office (which had the personality of a rock) said I would need to upgrade to a deluxe site for an additional $51.00 which we did but, it really just put a bad taste in my mouth right from the start. There is 8 Washer & 8 Dryers for $3.00 each per load. The washer runs 30 mins, dryer run 60 minutes. There is seating and a TV in the laundry room for you to watch. There is a table to fold clothes on, an iron and ironing board for you use. The laundry room could use a motion light outside, is very dark so take a flash light if you will be there after dark. Nice location, there is a fire pit at each site. We had a table and chairs and also two chairs for by the campfire. General store onsite. Just a few miles from restaurants and gas stations. It is close to historic downtown also. Rental cabins onsite. Fire wood available for purchase at General Store. Basketball court onsite.
We stayed at Cody / Yellowstone East KOA Holiday and had a very pleasant time. The location is great, just outside Cody and on the route towards Yellowstone National Park, which makes it a perfect base for exploring the area. The campground has clean showers and restrooms, which we really appreciated. The staff were friendly and helpful, making check-in and our stay very easy. There are plenty of nice amenities for families, including a swimming pool, playground, mini golf, and spaces to relax. The atmosphere is welcoming and calm, and the surrounding scenery adds to the experience. (Note: in September, some things can be closed for the season.) Overall, this is a good and convenient campground with everything you need, close to both Cody and Yellowstone. Definitely worth staying here and a place we would return to.
We ask for sites close to the bathhouse and He (Shaun) maybe, said well let me put you in the. Computer and see what happens. He didn’t even try to be an accommodating, we asked to be side by side and he didn’t even care and there were empty sites by us all night. Also, the bathroom toilet seat next to the shower was all crooked and sliding around. The shower water RAN AND RAN after 5-7 minutes I swear it wasn’t hot. I was getting really angry that I wasn’t going to have hot water after paying @$80 for a site. The water finally got hot enough to shower. My daughter had the same experience with her shower. The air freshener was so STRONG it about gave me a headache and all that artificial fragrance is awful for your health. Please stop with all the air fresheners. Some people really have sensitivity to them and get sick. The site and grounds were fine and there was activities for the boys as with most KOA’s. I wasn’t impressed with the staff.
During one of the darkest chapters of my life, the KOA in Cody, Wyoming became a quiet beacon of hope. For the month of September, my RV site is my little sanctuary as I face the storms of stage 4B cervical cancer and chemotherapy. My son drove a great distance to be with me during my most recent treatment. They were able to accommodate him just a few doors down from me in case I needed him. He was in a cozy cabin for four days, close enough to hold my hand and share his strength after my treatment. The care from the staff is more than just a friendly check-in desk—they have been a balm for the soul. They have wrapped us in compassion and treated us like family, turning hardship into a place where healing feels possible. If you’re searching for a refuge where kindness flows from the heart, and you are valued more than just a customer, this is it. The manager leads a devoted team filled with kindness and compassion. I cannot speak highly enough about the manager and entire staff that I’ve met or interacted with. The facilities are clean and well maintained, it’s extremely safe, even for solo travelers, the staff is attentive, the accommodations are more than welcoming, and the amenities are wonderful. They are well located just a short distance to restaurants, laundromat, downtown Cody, several events, Museums, local activities and the hospital. There are even accommodations for a bus ride to the famous nightly Cody Rodeo Which runs from the beginning ofJune to the end of August. Thank you for being my safe harbor when I needed it most. Book your stay now, you will not regret it.
