Traveller's Rest 1770 Camping Ground

We booked the Rainbow Bee-Eater Nest site so we could be with friends on the one site. It is a great sized, powered site close to the amenities. We had two camper trailers, however you could easily fit more if you wanted. The site is close to the amenities block, which was spotless. Travellers Rest Stop is close enough to Agnes/1770 for an easy drive to town and beaches, yet far enough away so you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. It ticked all our boxes and I would recommend it to anyone.

Had a lovely 5 nights here recently on a powered camp site. The sites are so spacious! Amenities were very clean and showers were great! There may be some traffic noise from the highway but to be honest it didn't affect our stay! If you are looking for a spacious peaceful place to stay then Travellers Rest is the place to stay. Thank you again for a lovely few days of relaxation ☺️

Staying here is a must! Stopped off for one night, as we had to leave early in the morning to continue our adventure- Mike is such a beautiful man. He was so helpful in giving us directions (we got lost in the dark and ended up in the middle of the woods down the road!!). His personality and energy is so contagious, we truly felt so welcome to his little paradise plot on arrival. Before we left, we went for a morning stroll with a cup of coffee on the boardwalk that they’ve built through the bush, listening to the bird song and reading all the little signs with interesting facts about the land, wildlife and flora that they’ve placed. You could easily stay a few days here, there seemed so much to do. The toilet and washing facilities were spotless (beautiful hot showers!) as were the BBQ and picnic area. Highly, highly recommend.

I have recently just spent two weeks at travellers rest and to say it felt like home the moment i entered the property is an understatement. I helped out cleaning the amenities blocks whilst i was there and got to experience so many of the beautiful things this site has to offer. I left feeling like there was still more to see! When i arrived i was greeted by Mike and informed about a talk he was hosting that night around the topic of bush tucker. During my stay i attended a few screenings about multiple different topics, history and storytelling, not to mention mike does “bushtracks” a guided tour through the property (which is a must do!) and also a forest bathing walk. This campsite is more then just that, there is a boardwalk that leads you into the bush and offers up so many sites to see, different trees and plants, the forest actually changes halfway! There’s a fire trail which is like a boulevard you see pictured in magazines and calendars. I woke up to kangaroos grazing in the mornings and heard owls and possums of a night, not to mention the GreenTree frogs that like the bathrooms of a nighttime. The family were so accomodating during my stay, making sure regularly that i had everything i needed. The children are so friendly and curious and both mike and Mickey are an absolute pleasure to communicate with and get to know. Reception is patchy but accessible out there, one of the perks of the place is being able to switch off and immerse yourself with your surroundings. There is a beautiful pond full of Lillie’s and lotus flowers, the bbq area is so spacious and town is just a 5-10 minute drive. The showers are nice and hot and the block is always clean. This site really was a true gift and experience for me on my journey and I recommend it to anyone and everyone i meet Thank you to you all, i cannot wait to visit again someday

This is the best campground we’ve stayed at so far. The owner Mike is so lovely and welcoming. At night he does a slide show presentation to give information about the surroundings which is very informative and entertaining. The campsite itself is picturesque and lots of wildlife. There is also a bush trail which has a boardwalk so very easy to navigate. The amenities were very clean and the showers were always lovely and hot. Couldn’t recommend this place enough. Would love to stay here again.
