Sedgwick County Afton Lake

This is a very well kept park. Most of the roads are paved which is nice. It's very clean and the people who work are very nice. It's a good place for swimming & fishing.

Who knew such a laid back, serene, beautiful place would be right here in Kansas? It's great for boating, picnics or if you just want to get away from the city to someplace quiet for awhile.

We stayed for 2 days Camped like we drove 1000 miles. I actually live just 20 mins away Love Lake Afton

We found the park to be clean and well equipped. The water was beautiful with many camping sites nearby. Restrooms were close to the campsites. The night we stayed was very quiet. Highly recommend.

I happened to stop by the east side of the lake for a sunset view the other evening. The lake has great north/south shores so it's ideal for sunset/sunrise photography if the sky is clear. It's within 30 minutes of where I stay while visiting Wichita so I can load up the camera and head out in relatively short time. There are quite a few picnic type areas from what I saw during the short stay, but I'll be back to look further. I want to try to get a sunrise picture or two next time.
