Grey Bear

Great place to camp for the night! Facilities aren't robust but the view is spectacular. Stayed here alone and felt perfectly safe.

Sometimes the river doesn't go the way you originally thought but the current can lead to a place that is just fine and dandy. Grey Bear is such a place. Came ballin' in from Billings where the burgers are tasty but the camping is scarce. Got my fishing license from the gun/gas/soda & fishing license bazaar. Finally! Took awhile on account of some blockhead customer was jawin' for a long spell at the register. But eventually I traded my money for a license. Nice cashier too. Anyhow, got to Grey Bear shaved my face, set up camp, then fished and missed. But fear not for I woke up determined and caught one little brother. That's what I call trout. Brown it was. Peeled outta there just before the sun started blasting heat. Yellowstone River and thoughts of the long forgotten. Drive carefully lots of baby bunnies hopping around and you don't want to send them to the promised land before their time.

Overall, this was a really beautiful and secluded place. Decent stop for a road trip. That being said, there's an extremely loud train that goes by every hour on the hour, which can cause a not so great night's sleep.

Two campsites running loud generators. One old, rundown camper has a flat tire, looks like it's been here a while.

Absolutely love going here with my kids! We fish, walk to the west and look at beaver dams, and pick up lots of rocks and sticks! Has an awesome place to roast hotdogs on a wood fire on the Sandy beach by the bridge! We love living close and enjoy it all year long.
