Shannon is a lovely campground surrounded by large shady trees , great clean amenities, including showers and barbecues .

This is a huge campground. I stayed in the pine forest in one of the cabins. The cabin was 'atmospheric'. It needed a solid clean out before it could be set up, and I don't think anyone will ever get rid of all the cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. It still made a nice change from camping in a tent though. There's a few different ablutions blocks, all a bit of a walk away. There are hot showers if you're prepared to chop some wood and light a fire (and keep it lit.) It was a lovely, calm, serene spot.

We camped two nights here in October and pretty much had the campground for ourselves as it was cold and rainy. But perfect as we wanted to build a campfire and it is one of the few national parks in the area which allow campfires. We came a day after school holidays to avoid the crowds, but the ranger said there had only been six groups of campers during the holidays. There seems to always be lots of spaces available. There is hot water but you have to light a fire and wait 30 minutes or so. Nice hiking and forest drive in the area.

Love WA National Parks - campground is well laid out, plenty is space in each site. Some in full sun and some hidden amongst the trees. Bbq and tables under cover. Great amenities with hot showers (you light a little fire). Rubbish bins and dump point. The campground is a great place to start the 50km loop Giant Tree Drive which was awesome. Also has lovely walks - we did the walk to the Shannon Dam. So many birds! We had kangaroos arrive each day for the kids to marvel at.

Fantastic location. Clean amenities and wood fired hot water showers (please bring some kerosene to light jarrah or otherwise you can sit near the boiler like a campfire for ages). 1-43 open campsites. 43-60... among tall tree bush. Loved it. We bicycle to the dam. Follow the trail signs... Fantastic experience.. kids loved it.. definitely recommend anyone.
