Relatively dry trail with no one here except us and the puppers. Decent easy to moderate trails with 4 good choices. I would choose Elkins, as it has the most variation and you can see the water. The others can be slightly monotonous with straight paths and brown leaves. We did not see any wildlife at all. Good for choosing short or long hike and no bugs to be seen at 55 degrees! (This review is specific to the area of hiking that we did where the Elkins trail is located and joins with 3 other trails there. Norris Dam State Park has other amenities and trails (many!) which are not discussed in this review.)
The entire area is beautiful and clean. The trails are very nice. The hydro-electric dam is a nice walk with great views on both sides. The winter can be quite cold, with winds coming across the lake. The local area is friendly and welcoming. Have Fun and be safe.
Great park with hiking trails, picnic areas, cabins for rent and of course, lots of water! The visitor center was helpful for finding hiking trails and there were plenty of places to go for peace and quiet. We weren’t boating, but others were and it looked like fun.
This is a beautiful park. It has cabins to rent. The views to the lake are amazing! There is a village 30 minutes from the park called Ancient Lore Village. Must go!
This dam & the areas surrounding it are definitely worth visiting! Also while your there Check out both Museums! Ones small at the top on the left right before you go over the dams bridge! The other is at the bottom it’s bigger & definitely more informative! The guy working there was so nice & accommodating! All facilities & grounds are well maintained & kept clean!
