There is no freedom to roam in Australia (hence the fences everywhere on this Aboriginal land). Be very careful when crossing farmers properties. They are quite aggressive people. The stay there needs to be booked. It is not clear or straightforward how. No lake or river to wash or cool down. Few trees with not much shade.
I nice campground only accessible by foot. We hiked in from the Hall side ~13km which was a fairly gentle walk through a variety of changing scenery. The camp ground gets very cold during the autumn and winter months, and there are no camp fires allowed, so travel prepared. Rain water tanks are a nice touch as are the picnic tables. There is a long drop toilet too.
No car access. A lovely leisurely 5km walk the long way around through the trees. The short way straight up the hill is 3km and a bit slippery in some areas so sturdy shoes recommended. Campsite has nice flat grassy areas and beautiful views and very peaceful. Tanks are non potable so bring your own drinking water. Phone reception is good all the way.
The campsite is spacious on an open but gently sloped hill. There is some shade in the afternoon but it's generally in full sun. There are many people who pass by the site and few who stay. The rain water tanks were full at the end of Feb but there had been reasonable rain recently. Filter or boil water before drinking, there is visible small things swimming around in it. There is no road access to this site.
It was quiet and the facilities good and clean. Not an idyllic setting but fine for a one night stopover. It was fairly dry when I walked through July 2020.
