Everything you need to know hub of Hay River
Thank you Tanner for your helpful information! This is a beautiful and welcoming tourist center.
If you are in Hay River or planning to visit Hay River, the tourist information centre is the place to see or contact. Jill and staff are very informative about the town and surrounding areas and what to do. The visitors centre also has quite a bit of artwork from local artists that you can purchase. Handcrafted Indigenous artwork, apparel, boardgames and more memorabilia to take home to show friends and family.
Our family visited Hay River a few days before they had to evacuate. The ladies at the front desk were very helpful and gave us plenty of travel info. They were very friendly and let us fill up our motorhome's water tank at the visitor center. They also have a sewer dump for RVs. Would definitely recommend for other tourists to visit. Wishing the evacuees luck!
I must remember to ask the lady's name, but she is lovely. She explained everything about the town, what to do in Hay River, where to go for day use Great Slave Lake, recommended restaurants, and some activities in town. It was so resourceful. And they provide free Wi-Fi for those in need. Excellent tourist information. I will come back here if I ever decide to go back to Hay River.
